Day 24 ~ Effortless Thinking ~ Effortless Living !

Effortless Thinking ~ Effortless Living !

Effortless Thinking + Effortless Living = Happy Healthy Life!

Hi Folks,

Wow, awesome day at the park !

Included visiting family, enjoying an Elimination Diet picnic…

YES it is possible !

Along with some healthy Dax workout then going for a swim to cool off

Got to thinking how much effort …. we think !

Here’s something to Help….

How do you make a choice when you’re stuck at a fork in the road?

How can you decide when two or more possibilities seem equally good?

I’ve been learning (but haven’t mastered) Effortless Decision-Making.

It’s a way of making decisions so you flow through the constant stream of decisions you must make every day in your lives, without getting stuck, without being paralyzed by fear. We choose, and flow, and we let go of worry.

What follows is a very brief guide to making effortless decisions…

Let go of perfection. We’ll never make perfect decisions, and wanting to make the perfect choice keeps us paralyzed.

Get more information. Don’t let this hold you up, but if you’re stuck it’s often because you don’t have the necessary info. What info do you need? Can you easily get it? Get it now if you can, but don’t be held up by the lack of info.

Try and error. If you don’t have enough info — and that’s usually the case — just choose. It doesn’t really matter what you choose, just make a choice and let go of the idea of making the right choice. Now live with that choice for a bit, and see what happens. This is called trial and error, and it’s often the best way to get information. We try something, and see how it works out — and then we have more information to make better decisions in the future. When you look at it this way, decisions are just a series of trial and error experiments, and it doesn’t matter what the outcomes are, because any outcome is good information.

Try intuition. If you’re stuck and don’t have enough info, let go of worry and just make a choice. How do you make a choice? You could flip a coin, but you could also just go with your gut reaction. What does your intuition say? Start listening to it — often it’s an unconscious decision based on lots of factors that we can’t consciously process, so a part of our unconscious brain processes it and comes up with a split-second decision. Intuition can be wrong, but that’s still OK: we’re going to learn from the results no matter what. So just learn to hear your intuition, and go with it.

Let go of worry. If you learn the above principles, it’s easy to see that there’s nothing to worry about. You don’t need to be perfect, and a decision is very rarely the end of the world (at least, no decision has led to the end of the world yet). Sure, history is littered with the corpses of those who made bad decisions, but there are a million times more decisions that were made without any really bad consequences. You won’t die, you’ll just learn. So don’t worry — just choose.

Practice, and flow. You’ll get better at this with practice, as you learn to let go of perfection and worry and see decisions as experiments. You’ll learn to do it better, faster, with more intuition. Soon you’ll flow through your daily decisions with ease. Do it consciously at first, keeping in mind all of the above principles, but it gets easier as you go.

Making decisions is something we do all day long, and it doesn’t have to be difficult. We build certain decisions up in our minds because we think they’re incredibly important, but in truth they’re rarely that big a deal. This isn’t the Cuban Missile Crisis — we’re not deciding the fate of a nation. See choice as an opportunity to learn, and you’ll be happy for every single effortless decision that comes your way.

Here’s to a Day of Effortless Thinking AND Enjoying !  😀

P.S. Remember to please let me know if this helps along with your thoughts too, it will be much appreciated !!

Day 23 ~ Eat to Enjoy Abundant Health !

Enjoying Health ~ Together !

Enjoying Health ~ Together !

Hi Everyone,

Wow, it’s been a crazy busy day.

However, what has given me the energy for the day has been doing my morning ED food and Dax’s awesome variety of exercise challenges.

Dax’s Magic One Hundred !!

Here’s some yum foods to enjoy being healthy with ….

Folks, you don’t need fancy plans or complicated point systems to be thin. All you need to do is make smart food choices, watching those portion sizes and stay active using Dax’s thought out plan ~

Learning to eat for a lifetime is more beneficial than trying to make eating and exercising complicated. You should be choosing healthful foods every day and changing your lifestyle for the better.”

Just like in Elimination Diet.

So instead of sticking to tasteless diet fares, fill up on nutritious, wholesome foods Dax recommends..

Since I admit to being a not so good chef. But thanks to the Elimination Diet cookbook and remembering to keep it simple…. came up with some the idea to just start with these five options, which are among the many delicious foods that make a good addition to healthy eating while keeping you slender.

Yummy Healthy Apples !

Yummy Healthy Apples !

Apples are a good source of dietary fiber. Dietary fiber not only contributes to a healthy digestive system and reduced cholesterol, but it also benefits smart eaters by yielding no calories while keeping them satisfied.
And there’s something else about the fruit that might help you feel full. A study in the journal “Appetite” found that when women added either three apples or three pears to their daily meals, they lost more weight than people who added three oat cookies to their diets — even though the fruit and the cookies contained the exact same amount of dietary fiber.

Although the reason behind this finding may be a mystery, there is something to be said for the findings. According to Alan Aragon, a nutritionist and author of “Girth Control: The Science of Fat Loss & Muscle Gain,” crunchy foods in particular can trick a person into feeling fuller. The act of chewing may send satiety signals to your body, he says, making you think you’ve eaten more than you really have and keeping hunger at bay.

Enjoying those Healthy Almonds !

If you’re looking for a tasty midday snack, a handful of almonds are a well-regarded option. A study in 2009 in “The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition” found that women who ate nuts at least two times a week were more successful at keeping weight off than those who didn’t eat this food.

One particular favorite among some nutritionists is almonds, says Aragon. One ounce of this food contains only 167 calories, plus it packs roughly 6 g of protein and 3 g of fiber, both nutrients that can make you feel full. Furthermore, like apples, almonds are crunchy and require a lot of chewing, so they, too, can make you feel like you’ve eaten more than you actually did and keep you fuller longer.

Smile while enjoying that Salmon ~

Smile while enjoying that Salmon ~

If you’re uncertain about fish, there’s no need to fear. Seafood can be part of a healthy diet. And there’s some evidence that the fat in foods such as salmon can boost satiety levels, says Aragon. For example, a study published in the “International Journal of Obesity” found that when dieters ate salmon a few times a week, they lost about two more pounds than those who didn’t include seafood in their meals.

And in spite of the mention of salmon’s fat content, the food is relatively low in calories. One 3-oz. serving has just 175 calories. Salmon is a good source of protein as well.

Don't feel guilty eating eggs for Health !

Don't feel guilty eating eggs for Health !

There’s no doubt that protein, like fiber, has impressive satiating powers. And while eggs seem to have a bad reputation in some circles, there can be no contesting their ability to help keep your weight in check.

Research has shown that eating eggs at breakfast can help you fight weight gain all day long. A study reported in 2008 in the “International Journal of Obesity” found that when dieters ate two eggs for breakfast for five days out of the week, they lost 65 percent more weight than dieters who consumed a bagel in the morning. Although protein is likely to fill you up whenever you eat it, some scientists suspect that having more in the morning can keep you feeling fuller all day long.

Oh Boy, Tomatoes !

Oh Boy, Tomatoes !

It’s true that most veggies make for great diet fare. Non-starchy vegetables in particular, such as carrots, celery and spinach, are filled with fiber. Like other foods high in fiber, they can help keep you feeling satiated.

Plus, they’re pretty self-regulating, says Aragon. You can’t really overeat with nonstarchy vegetables. After all, how many baby carrots can a person eat without needing to dunk them in some ranch dressing?

So while there are many veggies that can help you stay slim, tomatoes might be a particularly good option because they’re so tasty. And, besides, with that whole a-tomato-is-a-vegetable-no-it’s-a-fruit argument, you might have forgotten all about eating them. One cup of cooked, red tomatoes contains just 43 calories, but tastes just as delicious as any number of high-calorie foods.

And that’s at least half the secret, finding foods that are both healthy and tasty. The good thing is, they do exist. Over time, you’ll discover what wholesome, filling foods you prefer, expanding your choices while shrinking your waistline.

Look forward to hearing what Your favorite Elimination Diet foods are ! 😉

Day 22 ~ Craving Control !

Enjoy controlling that Craving !

Enjoy controlling that Craving !

Hi Everyone,

Just finished my morning workout and thought would share with you some of what I’ve experienced while using Dax’s Elimination Diet and exercises.

Know there are times we may get those cravings that can slow or halt our progress.

Today I want to talk about some yummy foods which help you control your cravings. This is important because, let’s face it, you will NEVER be able to stick to any eating program if cravings are driving you CRAZY.

What’s more, some cravings can actually be caused because your body is not getting the nutrients it needs from the foods you are eating. Your brain ends up sending “hunger signals” to get you to eat in hopes that you will eat nutritious food. But many people don’t… so the cycle repeats. Bad foods = cravings for more food = eating more bad food = more cravings = lots of BELLY FAT.

Your body deserves top quality treatment—think nothing but the best. You definitely do not want to be filling your body with fillers, additives, and more processed junk than you’d find at the local garbage dumb.

You want to be putting quality nutrients into the body that not only satisfy its nutrient needs but also cure those cravings permanently. When you eat right, cravings will decrease dramatically.

So which foods should you favor?

#1 Avocados

Yup, that’s right, a fatty food. But this fat is a good fat and these are loaded with two vital nutrients that will quickly kill belly fat: fiber and monounsaturated fats. These little suckers keep you full for hours.

#2 Nut Butters

Peanut butter and almond butter are loaded with monounsatured fats that can stave off hunger and provide valuable nutrition. Just be sure that it’s natural nut butter because the regular grocery store versions are filled with sugar and trans fats.

#3 Eggs

Need a quick breakfast solution? Look no further than to eggs. Loaded with protein, vitamin B6, V12, A, D, E, and K, as well as folate, choline, lutein, calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids, you simply cannot go wrong. Choose free range chickens whenever possible and the nutritional benefits will be amplified.

#4 Dark Chocolate

More good news. That chocolate craving that you have, it too can be satisfied. Dark chocolate is actually a powerful source of antioxidants and it contains a natural “fat burner” called theobromine that will increase the rate of fat burning that takes place in the body. Stick to a few squares after a healthy meal to crush those chocolate cravings.

#5 Oatmeal

Another great breakfast food you can’t go wrong with. If you want to cure the mid-morning craving attack, start your day off with oats. Oats are a very good source of wholesome fiber and contain no sugar at all so will keep your blood sugar levels on a nice even keel.

Mix in a little cinnamon for further blood sugar control support and to reduce belly fat and you’ve got a perfect way to start your day.

#6 Berries

Black berries and raspberries provide a great way to settle down sugar cravings. What’s more, their high fiber content keeps you feeling full while the antioxidants and vitamins improve your health.

#7 Wild Salmon

Last but not least, don’t forget about salmon. Another food that’s jam packed with protein and healthy omega fatty acids and that will help squash those cravings and keep your blood sugar balance in check. Eat this in the evening with some wholesome vegetables and you can kiss your cravings good bye for the night.

That’s 7 foods right there, but don’t forget about veggies and beans. Both are backed with nutrition and fiber to keep you full and satisfied. Be sure to eat these daily.

Enjoy while Controlling that Craving !!

Day 21 ~ Golden Health ~ Golden Life ~

Hi Folks,

Gotta love those ED recipes. Been traveling and STILL enjoying ED healthy foods having more energy than the others on the trip. Even doing the exercises the morning has given me more sustaining energy to enjoy the day, including hiking and swimming beyond the “young dudes” along!

Many have asked how I do it….

Dax !!

Dax + Elimination Diet !

My family and friends see how easy it is, even on vacation,…

How I look leaner as well as healthier.

Here’s a great health tip that’s fun to enjoy …. Hope you enjoy it too !

A Golden Fruit that helps your Immune system~

Golden Health with Kiwi !

Golden Health with Kiwi !

You could help keep your immune system fighting strong just by eating one or two of these little golden beauties every day: kiwifruit.

In a short study, eating a couple of golden kiwifruits daily dramatically reduced oxidative damage to immune-system-related cell structures in the study participants’ bodies.

Sweet Protection
Golden kiwifruit is sweeter tasting but just as nutritious as its more common cousin — green-hued kiwifruit. And in the study, the golden variety was responsible for dramatically boosting blood levels of several kinds of antioxidants — including vitamin C — after just 4 weeks of daily noshing. What’s more, those little fruits appeared to reduce blood levels of two types of oxidative substances — compounds that wreak havoc on cell health. And eating kiwifruit appeared to be particularly protective of lymphocytes — a type of blood cell the immune system uses to protect the body from infection and disease.

Guard Your Disease Fighters
Then there are kiwifruit’s two bonus benefits: it also helped thin the blood (reducing the risk of blood clots) and helped dial down people’s triglycerides — a type of blood fat that may increase the risk of stroke or heart disease. If your local grocery store doesn’t carry golden kiwifruit, consider the green variety. Other studies involving kiwifruit suggest the green variety may help lymphocytes repair existing oxidative damage to their DNA.

Enjoy a Happy Healthy Summer with ED, Dax, and your loved ones !

Day 19 and 20 ~ Easy Ways to be Better at Life ~

Enjoy Life ~ Simply !

Enjoy Life ~ Simply !

Hi Everyone,

Since did more traveling where internet was little and none, so posted two days worth today.

It is amazing to think it will soon be three weeks into the Elimination  Summer Diet.

Have to admit, the food has been awesome, since it is nutrient dense that has really …Really helped in enjoying the recipes. That, along with the exercises that actually GIVE me energy from doing them it has been a Win ~ Win time for me.

Also feel so thankful to have a supportive group here as well. Feel this makes it SO much easier as well as motivating too.

Here”s some things learned thus far ….

1. Get stronger – Start with a simple workout (like the ones Dax provides on YouTube !), and keep track of your stats – how many sets and repetitions you do for each exercise.  As long as you can do ONE more repetition today’s workout compared to your last workout, do it in less time, you are officially improving.

2. Run faster – When you go for a run today, track the distance and time on your iPhone or simply use Google Maps and a stopwatch to determine your distance and time.  It doesn’t matter if it takes you 45 minutes to walk a mile today.  As long as you can walk it in 44 minutes and 59 seconds next time, you are officially faster.

3. Do a pull up – Old or young, man or woman, big or small – everybody has the ability within them to do a freaking pull up.  You might be quite a ways off depending on where you are now, but you can start putting a plan in place TODAY to eventually do one.  This is one of the greatest exercises of all time, and a true test of strength and fitness.

 4. Improve your flexibility – The majority of us all spend the day sitting behind a desk, hunched over a computer, for 8+ hours a day…which is absolutely terrible for our bodies.  Spend 15 minutes a day to do some stretches (click on the Stretches channel), read MobilityWOD, and start taking care of your body and joints.  Reminder: Dax covers some great moves here ~Do them and your body will thank you !

5. Eat Better – Stop eating crap and start eating real foods – meat, eggs, fish, vegetables, fruits, and nuts.  Cut the unnecessary carbs.  Eat more protein and healthy fat.

It’s simple …

DO Dax’s Elimination Diet !!

Make one tiny change today, and then make one tiny change tomorrow, and one tiny change the next day.  Make changes that you can live with on a permanent basis and all of a sudden your diet will look nothing like the garbage you used to eat.

  1. Take better care of yourself – Turn off the TV half an hour earlier tonight and read a book, or meditate, even listen to relaxing music – it’s good for you 🙂
  2. Be a better cook – If you’re on a budget and want to eat healthy food, your best option is going to be learning how to cook better.  If a guy like me who is useless in the kitchen can learn to cook, so can you.

Check out Dax’s Elimination Diet Cook book. It is a really worthwhile investment that will pay you back in great health and energy rewards folks !

  1. Be a better localvore – start visiting farmers markets and buying locally grown goods.  I’m currently reading The Vegetarian Myth, which has absolutely blown my mind on what mass-market agriculture and commercial farming have done to our planet.  For another great angle, check out Michael Pollen’s The Omnivore’s Dilemma.  Do the research to find a farmer’s market in your area TODAY and make plans to check it out this upcoming weekend.
  2. Move more – Whether it’s through urban playgrounds or out in the woods, get out there and DO something.  Summer is here, and the sun is shining…sometimes.  Step out of your house, get out of the gym, and start exploring your environment.  I was a gym rat for 10 years and LOVE to lift weights; after spending the past four months exercising anywhere and everywhere, I might never get a gym membership again!
  3. ????????

Live Better

  1. Pay off your debt – Debt sucks, as my buddy Baker at ManVsDebt will tell you.  Put a plan in place TODAY to pay it off faster.  Add one dollar to your student loan payments or add one dollar to next month’s credit card payments.  You’re officially LESS in debt, woot!  If you’re completely clueless about finance, spend ten bucks on Ramit Sethi’s “I Will Teach You To Be Rich,” which absolutely revolutionized how I manage my money.

2. Be more adventurous – Start planning a trip somewhere you’ve always wanted to go – (if I can do this for $418, you can find a way to get anywhere for relatively cheaply).  You don’t need to visit every country in the world, but a trip to a foreign land (or even someplace in your own country) is absolutely within reach.  Start your own epic quest TODAY.  Research flights TODAY.  Start travel hacking TODAY.

  3. Challenge yourself – You’re reading Dax’s website and posts  so I’m figuring you’re a relatively intelligent person.  Instead of staying comfortable in your own little tiny niche, it’s time to challenge yourself.  Start learning a second language, take a dancing class, take a martial arts class, WHATEVER.  Do the research today, sign up for the class, or call the school.  Stop waiting, start doing.

4. Be more in control of your time and life – Start putting steps in place TODAY to build the future you want.  I realize that sounds really corny and cheesy, but it’s true If you have NO desire to start your own company, put systems in place so that you’re spending less time at work working on things you hate and more time on things that you love.

5.Declutter your life – I’ve traveled where have been livied out of a backpack for a month, and I’ve come to realize that we really don’t need a lot of stuff to be happy.  In fact, we all often have TOO much crap that takes time to maintain, clean, repair, whatever.  Follow Baker’s “Sell Your Crap” plan and start getting rid of the crap in your life you don’t need.  Take the time TODAY to throw away one thing that you never use, donate ONE piece of clothing you haven’t worn in 6 months, and/or sign up for an Ebay account and post ONE thing that you can get rid of.  Do that today, and your living space will be just a little bit less hectic.

6.Get more educated – I LOVE reading.  My Amazon Kindle doesn’t go a day without being used because I’m always trying to further my health and wellness education along with fun fiction books to help me fall asleep.  I just finished reading “Why We Got Fat,” “Be Your Own Gym,” and “The Alchemist.”  I’m currently finishing up the aforementioned Vegetarian Myth and The China Study. Pick a new book TODAY and start learning more.

7.Do less – Stop devoting time, energy, and resources to things that detract from your happiness.  Today, make a commitment to taking on one less unexciting commitment or eliminating one unnecessary meeting.  Want more? Take time today to check out Leo’s The Power of Less.

8.Do one thing that scares you. Tim Ferriss has this quote on his desk as a daily reminder to challenge himself.  In fitness, we have to challenge our muscles to move outside of their comfort zone or they never get bigger, stronger, faster.  In life, we have to challenge ourselves to move outside of our comfort zone or we’ll never grow.  I’m currently crossing things off my list that scare me, and I encourage you to do the same.  It doesn’t even need to be something crazy like flying a stunt plane or swimming with sharks; it can be something as easy as asking somebody for his/her phone number, speaking in front of a crowd, or exercising in public.  Challenge yourself to be uncomfortable – it’s good for you!  It’s time to become more confidentconquer your fear, and get better.  ONE THING TODAY.

9.Have more fun – I understand that I told you to do LESS above in point #7.  I encourage you to do less of the crap you hate, so that you can focus on doing more of the stuff you love.  As stated in the Rules of the Rebellion, “Your exercise and diet can become part of what you are, but not at the expense of who you are.”  If you enjoy spending time playing video games, watching Arrested Development reruns, and hanging out with your family, find a way to do MORE of that.  You can be in great shape, enjoy what you do on a daily basis, and still have a lot of fun.  More fun stuff = more happiness = less stress = better life = win.

What’s missing?

Bill, #10 in both sections is just a bunch of question marks!”

Yeah, I honestly struggled coming up with that last piece of advice for both, which is where you come in. What else belongs on this list, and what are SPECIFIC steps that people can take TODAY to get there?

How can we be better today than we were yesterday?

One of the MOST Excellent choices I made gives me a daily boost before walking out the door for a productive day.

What is it ?

Day 18 ~ Enjoying it Naturally ~ Nut butter !

Natural Enjoyment !

Natural Enjoyment !

Hi Everyone,

Have noticed, how thanks to Dax, have been eating, even exercising more naturally.

Such as exercising outdoors enjoying the fresh morning air.

It IS truly an amazing feeling to have MORE energy after morning exercise outdoors and a delicious ED meal.

Further, if you’re like me you like that mid-day snack during the day.

Well, since enjoying the new food processor, been experimenting with new recipes.

Here’s one on how to make almond butter, you can even apply this to make other natural butters.

Place 4 to 6 ounces of your nut of choice in food processor:

I’m not sure what kind of food processor I own as it was a gift from a friend who imports prototype appliances.  However, if you’re looking to purchase one, I hear both the KitchenAid and Cuisinart models are excellent.

If you prefer roasted nut butter, simply place your raw nuts on a parchment or foil lined cookie sheet and roast in a 350 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring once or twice to prevent burning.

Turn the food processor on, and let it do it’s job.  At first, you’ll have nothing but nut dust, & you’ll have to scrape down the sides of your processor several times with a rubber spatula:

Scrape, scrape, scrape.Scrape, scrape, scrape.

Allow the processor to continue running.  Eventually, your nut butter will begin to clump:

Let the processor continue running until nut butter reaches desired consistency. I promise it will get creamy, but a little patience is involved.

IMG_2633Raw Almond Butter

Using my food processor, roasted nut butter takes about 13 minutes to make, and raw nut butter takes slightly longer, 15 minutes maybe?

You can add anything you want: salt, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, etc.  I prefer mine plain, but I do like to experiment with different nuts.  My favorites are roasted pecan nut butter and roasted cashew-almond butter.

Cashew Almond ButterCashew Almond ButterRemember the food tip of chewing slowly, it will help you eat less, while also assisting digestion too. It really helped me control portions along with the healthy eating on the Elimination Summer Diet by Dax !

Day 17 ~ Beat the Heat ~ Don’t let it beat You !

Beat the Heat to Enjoy Summer !

Beat the Heat to Enjoy Summer !

Hi Everyone,

Was doing my Elimination Summer Diet workout by Dax outdoors and realized how great it will feel to let the breeze cool me off while meditation on my progress thus far.

Also, what is some other natural ways to beat the heat.

Here’s my ideas, and welcome yours !

Some quick tips to help you handle the summer heat.

Welcome your ideas too !

Different season bring with them different forms of enjoyment as well as health problems. In winters we can enjoy the warmth of bon fires but cold and flu may dampen our spirits some times. Similarly summer season has its own share of fun activities and health concerns.

Hydration is very important during the summer. Perhaps everyone has experienced a time when no matter how much water you drink, there seems to be no way to quench your thirst. You must have also felt a time when the humidity and the heat seems to penetrate right through your body and stays right there. When things like these happen again this summer, gulping down some soothing herb can help you get through the heat, with flying colors!

Herbs in the form of teas or other beverages can cool down your body naturally. Some of the most widely-used herbs include raspberry leaves, lemon balm, catnip, mint leaves, rose petals, chamomile, alfalfa, thyme, strawberry leaves and rose hips. Kitchen herbs such as rosemary, fennel and marjoram are also effective summer soothers. You can even make your own herbal tea blends to contain a combination of these refreshing and flavorful herbs. In fact, you can make your own mineral rich and zesty herbal drinks from almost any edible herb.

Herbal beverages are quite simple to do. It can be as easy as adding just a few mint leaves when brewing your next cup of green tea. Or it can be as sophisticated as floating one bright blue borage flower petal over a glass of white wine. There are a variety of recipes and choices that you can choose from. The simplest refreshing herbal drink can be made by adding 6 ounces of boiling water into a teaspoon of fresh or dried herb, and allowing it to steep for about 5 to 10 minutes. You can add in honey or sugar afterwards, depending on your preference.

Herbal beverages are definitely more thirst-quenching than water. Herbal tonics and beverages not only quench your deep down thirst and help you avoid dehydration, but they naturally cool down your body from within. If you want something to go with your refreshing drink, you can pair it with salad greens topped with the zestiest seasoning and fresh herbs. These are definitely healthy and effortless ways to cool down your body naturally and to enjoy the weather.

Here are some herbs which can help you get through the summer with lots of enjoyment by keeping summer related health problems away.

1. Lemon Balm: lemon Balm is an excessively helpful herb in healing exhaustion and fatigue caused by heat. It is a member of the mint family. This herb has an appealing smell and tastes like lemons. Lot of herbalist recommend lemon balm to people who have to stay long hours in the sun to cure fatigue caused due to heat. It has a cooling effect on the body and also has anti depression properties. This herb is also helpful in treating cold sores. Lemon balm does not have any known interaction with any medicine hence it can be taken by elders as well as kids alike. Adding some herb concoction in water or lemon balm herbal tea on a hot summer day will keep you fresh and energetic. If you have lemon herb growing in your herbal garden then just chop little leaves or stem and boil it in water to make a fresh lemon balm tea.

2. Lavender: we all are aware that aloe vera is a good plant to treating burns. However, the cooling action of aloe vera may not be enough to treat sunburns. We need something stronger like Lavender. Take a spray bottle fill it with clean water and mix ten to fifteen drops of lavender oil in it. Whenever you go out in the sun spray some lavender water after coming back. Instead of water you can also use lemon balm herbal tea and add lavender oil in it, this will increase the cooling action.

Lavender has many more health benefits. You can use it soothe sore muscles. Mix two or three drops of essential lavender oil in a teaspoon of base oil and massage it on the area with sore muscles. Any tense muscles can be healed by massaging with lavender oil mix.

If you have headache after spending long hours in the sun then massage your head using lavender essential oil on your forehead and your neck. Also sip some cooled lemon balm herbal tea to cool your body.

3. Plantain: plantain is an herbaceous plant (do not confuse it with the banana known as plantain). It has many herbal benefits. You can use this herb to cure burns, bee stings, bug bite, abrasions, cuts, itchy mosquito bite, and abrasions. You can even use it to remove splinters. You can use it raw as well as procure plantain essential oil or tincture to use it in your everyday life. Plantain herb is helpful in drawing out objects or poison from the body, be it a stuck splinter or even insect poison. Take a leaf of this plant and rub it on the affected area, this will help ease the itchiness. You can make a paste of the leaves and place it on the affected area and tie it with a bandage. You can also take leaves of plantain and boil it in water. Make a hot or cold compress by dipping it in the water and place it on the affected area.

Here’s to Enjoying a Happy ~ Healthy Summer thanks to Dax and hard work !!  😉
